Salem, MA is SO busy in October because of Halloween. Be prepared not to drive anywhere. Otherwise, you'll be sitting in a lot of traffic.

There are beautiful beaches in this area! This isn't 100% positive but I think it's good to know. Certain beaches have "green heads" that hurt when they bite. They're typically around in July.

The Ipswich River is a very popular place to kayak and canoe. The Foote Brothers is a great place where you can rent them and get shuttled up river!

The Topsfield Fair is a must if you are into fairs. It's America's oldest fair and runs at the end of September/early October. There's a little something for everyone there. Animals, food, concerts, carnival rides, and more.
